Hi, all. Im getting started to start my business and I need a few tips to go. I already know about health fairs, golf courses, and athletic sporting events. I need ideas from everyone. Maybe you can help others.

Hello Larryhands. Basically, any place that people gather is fair game and opportunity. Best to be armed with insurance, some knowledge of zoning... and its vital to search out in any case the best person to contact.Health fairs aren't the only type of fair to pursue...county fairs, holiday fairs, craft fairs, church fairs, street fairs...*lol* even garlic festivals...there will be tired walkers with a need to rest and put down their bags for a bit. Any sort of Admin and support staff, like schools... really, any sort of office. Any sort of stress vocation, police, fire departments, city hall.Any sort of traveler based waiting areas, like airports, clean and secure train stations.Then there's waiting areas in salons.Or set up in book stores...New Age is a great start...fragrance shops, like those catering to aromatherapy and custom blended oils.Coffee houses...especially the hybrids that cater to the Internet crowd.There's the "Y" ...YMCA, YWCA...they often sponsor Health Events.There's shopping malls...but that can be pricey to rent fooeforum.xxxe, unless you are sponsored by some shop located there in.A great start is to locate a "Wellness" Group or corporation in your locality. These cater to managing and/or presenting reliable resources to major companies for their wellness programs. Basically, they find the companies, schools, health fairs, etc. and call you with opportunities.The big corporations, which are a chair massage "plum"very often have some sort of Wellness program for the benefit of their employees, since their main concern is productivity and avoiding overuse pathologies. If this is not managed by an outside group (as mentioned above), there's good opportunity for work if you notify someone in that office.Be sure to be armed with all the facts about the benefits of massage that address their particular concerns. When working it is handy to have some knowledge of ergonomics, and medical referrals, as the office workers will query you about why they are hurting in certain areas and what they can do about it. They usually schedule bi-weekly. If they like you, they may offer you additional opportunities with their subsidiaries.Then there are factories, like car assembly...any type of assembly or sorting. The workers do get breaks and lunch hours. I don't know many who have tried there, so it may be wide open for opportunity. Factories have office staff as well. Musicians, from full orchestras to pop groups...runway models, etc. Just about anyone employed in the entertainment field.  Hook up with a talent or modeling agency, theatre groups as well. Actors, even on the smaller seforum.xxxe are big supporters of massage. Even lighting people, seforum.xxxe hands... anyone involved with production. Besides athletic events, there are athletic clubs that appreciate chair massage. Be sure to set up in an area with traffic enough to know that you are there... past the dressing rooms, where people have already changed and are walking toward machines.  Don't bother with the waiting area near the desk, because people are on their way in or out. There is work with psychologists and counselors. And groups like the Unitarian church, who sponsor spiritual and holistic health events.Study areas in libraries...if you could break ground with a college or two this could be another plum around exam time!  ;DPeruse through the posts, there are many. Here's another: contact any television station that runs telethons or member drives...they may hire you as a thank you perk for those kind volunteers who are maning the phones (even they get breaks)...it might work you up some regular business at the station, or with the sponsoring companies. If someone you are working on says "Ohhhh...I wish you were working with us at ______."...say "Thanks so much! That really interests me. Do you know who I would speak to about that?"

Gutehands...thank you! Great information...I'll have to use these too...As for production...my husband is a caterer and has catered a couple local shoots...his source of contact was the visitors association for our city. MT's have also added their names to the list.  I also found information on upcoming events thru the newspaper.  You'll come across ads for vendors needed, etc.  Contact the number and tell them what you have to offer.  Also, your local city hall is a wealth of information! Especially if they have their own web-site...you can look up any event going on and who to talk to about it.  My husband just landed our city's contract for all of the summer concerts through city hall.  Heck, I need to be talking to my husband about putting me in some of these events! Anywhere people have to wait, or are otherwise milling around -- like concert and event ticket lines, Black Friday sales or American Idol auditions [though you might have to check local ordinances as a street vendor?]
