It's been a while…the f’n heat here is just CRAZY. It makes it hard to even f’n think let alone debate/comment on a forum.

Still the 16:12 FIFO roster is great and I am back in Bangkok and Laos every 16 days for 12 days.

Truth is I would work on the SUN to keep this roster.

A few examples from what I have experienced:

Note: Every Bar, Manager, Ladies and Bartendee’s have their own “rules” (don’t try to work it out it will fark your mind)…

Leave the tip in the tray…the money goes in the tip kitty for all staff.
Hand the tip direct to the lady and she can keep it.

If the tip is what she considers high she may put a 20 or 50 THB from her own pocket in the staff kitty.

Yes I agree with ThaiCam it is about the $...many would like to drink slower and pocket the LD herself as a “tip”… (I have done this before on a 2:1 ratio. A win/win for all, it still chips away at her LD quota/bonus and is still better for your “favorite” or deserving lady.

With these LD’s going up in cost to these “NASA levels” of ~170-200THB…I may have to rethink my overall strategy.

Have to say once you've experienced bar service in the UK where u literally need to beg to get a drink and you are made to feel they are doing you a favour

In most bars in Thailand you wait a nano second to get your drink and it usually comes with a smile

I will almost never leave a bar in Thailand without paying a tip automatically, under 200 baht, 20 baht, over 200 and under 1000, 40-60

Same same US, except that here if you tip 10%, you are a piker, and they will look down their nose at you. 15% and you are merely a little cheap. If you tip 20%, then you are OK, as that is what they think they ought to get.

A technique I have done many times with a girl who I already knew.. Why have her drink 4 or 5 water tequilas for 100 baht each.. Slip her a couple hundred instead, it goes where its supposed to.

Not so good if a new girl who doesnt know ya tho..

There are other bars under Tiger Lady Drinks are 230baht! Complete ripoff when just a few yards away you can sit in airconditioned comfort and they are 140.

I hate it when they order tequila as it's gone within seconds so they are sat with you without a drink and they only get that megacheap gutrut stuff from Vietnam anyway.

Agreed, the last thing a BG is, is stupid when it comes to getting what she is owed.

Good luck to the staff IMHO. If a Farang Bar owner feels the need to rip his staff off I won't be drinking there more than once or if I find out from other sources......Ever! Likewise a bad Thai owner. It's not like there isn't another bar to go to is it?

Again IMHO, a very small perceneforum.xxxe of Farang owners make a go of it, make a living at running a bar and treat thier staff well with salary, help with accommodation and at least some time off during a calendar month!

Some of the "Hobbytwonk" bar owners I have met have treated thier staff like sh1t and I make sure any money I want to pay with regard to drinks goes to the girl i.e. I'll order myself two beers, give one to her and discretely pay her some money at the end of my time with her.

One Farang Bar owner here in Kamala (They aren't the owners are they? Thier GF's are! Whose name is on the licences?) Anyway, he/she/they have just reduced the commission on a LD for the drinks from 30 Baht to 20. If they are that desperate for 10 Baht then I think it is time I think they thought of selling up and moving onto something else.

Some of these bar owning buffoons need introducing to the "Denpah Mouthwash" cocktail, it comes in a 1 Ltr Mekong bottle but instead of a slice of lime it has a bit of rag in the neck of the bottle. :whistle:

After 2 weeks partying in Sydney and Perth I now appreciate how cheap it is to drink in Thailand:star::star::star: (in an average beer bar anyway).
People here say UK and Europe are even more expensive.:diablo:

I also found tipping small amounts in cabs and restaurants is met with far more gratitude in Thailand.
Can't wait to be back in CM on Tuesday.
