I don't take any cards out at night, a few people have been held up at gun point and made to draw cash out the ATM. Nanai road was the last place I heard of this happening.

Yes, the 'muay thai' scam happened to me outside my front door...me who prides myself on my security.
As a result of sensible preperations I only lost my license and debit card , the scammer was warned off when he attempted to touch my front pocket containing only cash (1200tb).
In fairness to me, I thought he was a neighbour leaving work and a little maow, so my personal space level was a bit underguarded or he wouldnt have got that close. he must have kicked the card folder out of my back pocket.
But as soon as he backed off I realised something was up.
I therefore have this description.....Thai male, English ok, maybe 45 to 50 years old, chubby 5'5" , broad Issan features, brownish skin.
Motorbike left running with chubby smiling female pillion age about 35, number plate with numbers '264' on plates.
I think the friendly muay Thai exhibition guardedly warned of the ability to fight, if need be ,but his operations clearlly would not have benefitted from a physical altercation.
Most of my shorts have a button down pocket that I now always use, a wallet has always seemed a liability to me living here...

Yep, there's pickpockets and very good pickpockets too!

It would be difficult to point out all the pitfalls that may happen to you on your holiday (Swimming, tuk tuks, driving, fighting, the Gentlemen of the Constabulary, binge drinking, STD's, Noisy hotels and Dodgy tattoo's 555555)

If you want to get well pissed, halfway around the world, in amongst some of the poorest people in Thailand, in a P4P area and wander around with credit cards and a stack of money in your back pocket. Well, up to you but it equates to the people who go swimming when red flags are out etc.

It's a nause if it happens but just put it down to experience and a part of your holiday.

I've been done and would give myself a good slap if I went out with anything more than my front door key and my beer money down the front of me thong. Fun playing 'find the key' with yer latest as well!

I have 2 wallets, 1 I use on a daily basis the other one I call my drinking wallet, it only has cash and my business cards and a photo copy of my passport and driving license, if I lose it or have it pick pocketed big deal all my cards etc are safe in my other wallet.
