Nothing like dealing with the unknown and finding out for yourself..

Being influenced by internet sites and directed towards certain businesses seems to be the way to go these day`s.

Ditto here. I love to be able to just go out there (anywhere) and explore, maybe get lost a little, getting back on track is half the fun.

Getting some background info on a destination is a smart move but planning a holiday in minutia down to a daily/hourly routine (ALA the Griswalds!) just isn't for me.

This morning a made up a long list for a work mate who will be doing his first tour on his way back from a visit to Aussie.
Pretty much a list of do's and don't s and places to go and what to pay sort of thing,
But I must admit that I am glad that I found out a lot of these things by myself.
In retrospect the mistakes were half the fun. And a whole lot of the memories..

I miss the food, the beach, and the general laid back vacation vibe. I get it to Phuket at about 11:00 AM. Check in. Hop a tuk tuk to Laem Sing. Have some crab fried rice, steamed mussels, and some Tiger Beer to wash it down. Lay out, get massages, drink mango shakes until the sun sets. Take a nap rest and get debauched at one of the sois at night.

I remember my first night in Patong... 1st night in Thailand actually.... I wandered around for hours... finally succumbed and was dragged into a bar by some bar girl... my first drink... the beginning of the dream... and do you know... the longer you stay away from LOS the more you enjoy it when you go back... but 2 weeks is a minimum and 3 weeks ideal for any trip... I haven't been for a year now... and am gagging!

First Night - Stay in your room with a nice cup of tea and see whats on the TV.

Not really, get into Room, Change and get out ASAP. Hit Bangla Road and see where the night takes you to Heaven... I am sure it will

First night in LOS: Visited bro who was working there. He was busy, so his mates took me out with instructions from bro on where to go. They took me to the bj bar, "Star of Light" in Patpong. The boy's thought they'd give me a "surprise", and boy, was I ever! We walk in and to the immediate right the first thing I lay eyes on is this fella on a couch conducting a tonsil probe on this tiny-ass BG. I was totally shocked, in a surprised fun sort of way.

Anyway, we're stopping off in Bkk, and I'm taking my two rookies travel companions there first-thing-first. They might think it sucks at first; but, I'm sure they'll come around.

Yep the LOS blues are well and truly entrenched. We're all heading back in June/July this year - even managed to go from 4 guys to 7.

Luckily I found this forum before going to Phuket after many years of being married (twice - yea I know, stupid eh ....5555) and I managed to get heaps of info from the BM's of the day.
Arrived and had booked the Salathai Hotel for a month, had a quick nap, showered, shaved and went out around 9.00pm and directly opposite was the old Power Bar which i ventured into and low and behold after a fair few beers this beautiful Thai girl, who had been hanging all over me, finally talked me into bar fineing her - might add it wasn't real hard to do by then ....555555
Anyway that was that night sown up as it were and I didn't get to the MTB until the next night where I met a fare few BM's, Mai Chob being one of many and I believe Mav might have been there as well, but I'm terrible at names ...5555
Well for the first 2 weeks I sh*gged myself silly and pretty well burnt myself out I can tell you, but I loved every minute of it .....whaaaaaaa
Then I actually talked to my g/f in the MTB who spent most of the time I was there in the first 2 weeks hiding out around the place, I had noticed her but she never mingled very much - anyway to cut a long story short (thank god I hear) she spent the last 2 weeks with me and has been my g/f for over 3 1/2 years now and although I dont always get over that frequently it seems to work .....!!!!!!!
I must say that knocking around wth the BM's, meeting Nicke and Ead and finally meeting Nee was one of the best things that happened to me - and I have to thank the forum for that ................

I suggest you to take a look at Soi Kepsub just accross the road. You'll have a good massage and later you can go to one of the good restaurants on rah u tith. To finish the first day,just walk down Bangla and have a couple of drinks in one of the soi's.For the rest,up to you ;-)
