Local dj's Q, Taz, Jin and D[r]eadmongey team up for their monthly outing of deep house grooves on the White Box terrace. Has to be said that these 4 dj's are Phuket's finest and definitely names to watch out for, if you dont know them already.

Ok. I know I'm older and have grown up with the best music ever recorded in the 60's. And as an open minded musician I have never stopped listening and appreciating some newer music.

But without the inclusion of mind altering substances; how long can you young whipper snappers listen to trance before you get sick of it?

Depends on whose doing it.. Something melodic and flowing like Sasha and Diggers, like thier norther exposure series, thats fairly easy.. But if its hard trance it isnt a sound I like too much.

Thing with electronic music is theres so much diversity, many people just write the whole category off based on one genre they dont like.

heard a set of GG's a couple of years back which weaved "808 State" (from the late 80's) through the whole hour or so...was more in the psy trance (more laid back style) genre LiL is describing....and one of the best sets I've ever heard fom a DJ....it just kept coming in waves and I danced my ass off for the entire time!!!

I'm in my Thirties and have grown up with all sorts of house music, techno etc but this is unbearable.....maybe i'm getting old :aww:

Dinks and I went to club 53 on Saturday, music is not for me but I could appreciate it was done well. Dinks, music more for his age than mine really, didn't like the music, but then everyone has their own choice.

I liked the design and layout of the club but came to the opinion it is perhaps not right for Patong at this moment and cannot see it making a fortune. With the tourst type changing to be younger, maybe over time it will eventually be a must go to for the younger farang tourist, but wonder if financially they will be able to survive that period?

Thai girls couldn't dance to the music, most likely as they are not exposed to it often enough. Just like in Hollywood, they tend to just sit around in groups wondering if they would be better off by going back to Tiger!!

Stupidly I cannot remember the price we paid for a beer, which makes me think it was reasonably priced, because afterwards we popped in to Tai Life and I did question the price of a beer in there, it was 140bht a bottle, for what? old BG's and fuglies!!!

I wish the owners of Club 53 all the best and hope they do suceed, they've got a great location, have designed and fitted out the club really well, I just hope they have financed it for the long term and that Patong can get enough of the right type of tourist to keep all these similar clubs in business.
