I was sat down with my kids about a year ago (daughter 18, son 16) and told them that there was nothing they had done in their short lifetimes that I hadn't done 20 times more and 50 times better.
Both said "yea right - as if" , as the young do in these circumstances, so I got some old photos out and related a few of the things I had done, and places I had been in my youth (hence the photos) both sat very quietly for some time and my daughter then said "sh1t dad you were a bit of a rebel and a trouble maker in your day eh", which I admit I was. Like a lot of 'old guys' I did some pretty crazy , and dangerous things in my time.
Also played bass guitar in a group from age 15 to 19 and did catwalk modeling from 19 to 28 part-time, played county rugby union for Berkshire, U.K. for 4 years plus played for Reading RUFC for 12 years. Had 4 different types of Sport Cars over a 6 year period which included an Austin Healey 3000, Triumph TR5 and the good old MGB.
However I also made home-made bombs on a small scale when I was in my early teens from fertaliser and caster sugar (yes similar to todays car bombs) and we all thought it was a great laugh and this was over 45 years ago.
Luckily both myself and my stupid friends all survived though how I'm really not sure to this day - a lot of luck probably.
From age 17 I was either playing in the band or going to dances every night of the week except Sundays, my daughter goes once a fortnight if she's lucky and my son doesn't know what a dance is .....!!!!!!!
I also drove round Europe in a Combie Camper Van, as you did back then, and lived and worked in Holland for a year in my mid 20's.
I had many g/f's and many near misses cos the pill wasn't invented in those far off days and neither was HIV.

And these are just a small proportion of the thing I did in my youth.

So all you younger guys have to realise, no matter how much you dont want to, that most of us 'older guys' have seen more, been more places and certainly done more than most of you ever will.

Plus most of us also dont 'give a damn' if you pay less, pay nothing or actually think the young Thai ladies love you more than us - cos guess what .............. you still have to make it to our age, which in some cases I'm afraid actually wont happen ...............

I actually did exactly what you are going to do. I went to Phuket with a female friend who needed a holiday and I was going to Thailand, I told her she could eforum.xxx along no problem, but I was intending to take a paid bedwarmer home every night. No problem said she, just wait until the end of the night before you get one........
First night in Patong got talking to a really lovely girl (who was on holiday for a couple of weeks visiting her sister that worked in a hotel) - and I spent the next two weeks trying to get her to come back to the hotel with me. Very enjoyable time, but paying a bar girl is more fruitful.

I wouldn't say that is entirely true.

Am sure there are Bm's that have had liasons with Thai girls without money changing hands. Be it a restaurant worker, a girl from a Hotel or alike. Sure the girl is probably thinking more about the long term financial benefits, but i believe i would have got a slap round the face if i had handed over a bundle of cash in the morning on the odd occasion i have found myself in that position...
