Question Anyone gotten a Dr.'s prescription?

Just wondering if anyone has actually taken the time to go see/contact their doctor and ask for a massage prescription or are you just seeing your favourite indy?

I always had a prescription, so my legit massage can resume as soon as the clinic reopens on the 4th. As for the semi-legit massages, I think I can wait a little longer.

I acknowledge the need for a Drs referral with them, but tell them I don't have one at the moment because of Christmas and what not.

They ok my appt anyway so far.

I have one for physio for my back. I'm not sure if I could use that or if it specifically has to say "massage" on it. The place I usually go to hasn't opened so no I probably couldn't go anyway.

The person I usually see has contacted me and offered their services at home but I wasn't sure if that was safe to do so I declined.

It might be a good idea for you to check with your insurance provider. I was going for physio a few years back after a MVA and there had an in-house massage therapist and my physio said to see her. My provider still did not cover that so I had to see my doctor before my next massage appointment.

Actually got my appointment confirmed for the 7th already, that clinic has RMTs, physiotherapists and chiropractors all mixed in, they are definitely reopening for the 4th. 100% legit of course, hence I noted, semi-legit will have to wait.

In Calgary, most of the serious and legit RMTs are open and available for massages with a doctor's prescription, since December 22. And to answer, another question, yes Doctor's note has to be for Massage Therapy, and usually with some indication.. such as shoulders, back pain etc etc.

DRs aren't the only ones that can issue referral letters. There is a laundry list that can... eg: Chiro, Social Worker, even Dentists.
