If they eat it ?? With the provisions that its killed quickly and humanely, that its not a rare animal, etc I really have no problems, I mean I eat meat, how could I. Back in the UK my old man lives a diet with very little purchased meat, but has a second freezer for his venison, trout, and occasional game birds or rabbits hung in the garage.

But I have odd standards, I would never set a snare, but have no problem shooting a rabbit. I see nothing wrong with taking a young buck out of the deer population (this time of year perfect) but not a female in spring (as they would be in foal).

I actually think if more people had a closer connection to the food they eat, and realized meat didnt come in styrofoam and cling film packs out of tesco, we might treat them a bit more humanely.

Well, it's a regular event here on Koh Phayam, but they don't do the knife thing.
I've seen it a few times and have to say the whole set-up is quite entertaining. They are doing fights between the Thai and the Burmese chickens, and the way they're into their "sport" is amazing. The "ring" is probably about 1km from my home, but can still hear the crowd as if they were next door.

BTW, they are not fighting until one of the chickens dies, just on time-limit or until one of the chickens gives up or try to escape the ring...........

If you mean Spanish or latin american bullfights then I totally agree.. But Thai Kwai Chon is 2 bulls doing a pushing and shoving match to achieve dominance, its more sport than blood sport.

Ever seen that kind of bull fight (Andalusia ??) where they tie a rosette between its horns and the guys try to grab it and vault over the bull.. Thats brave !! Also to grab it by the horns and then all pile on to wrestle it down.

But even non to the death, you wont see me at an event where the entertainment is animals fighting each other for amusement.

It's in the chickens nature to fight. They wake me up fighting early morning some days, and it's not for my or anyone else amusement I tell ya.........

I don't know where you come from, but most western countries are involved in the wars going on. I just used it as an example on that we're not much better than the animals. So watching chicken fights or bull fights isn't in my opinion worse than other things we do.
What about horse races, circuses and kennels, don't seem much better to me.

Anyway, no fence. I was growing up on a small farm and been witness to meat-production, we had chickens, pigs and cows. It's not a very nice scenery I tell ya..............Ever watched animal transport in Thailand.....10-100km in the back of a truck with no space to move........

The difference between a person choosing to be a fighter and getting paid to do so, earning a living, and breeding chickens which are owned and controlled simply for the purposes of fighting 2 totally different things.

I will agree the non bladed kind is much less abhorrent.. Still not good tho.

Horse races (if all goes well) dont hurt the horse, and when one goes badly its a tragedy when a horse is injured and or put down. Bull fights range from the barbaric (latin style), to the brave (men wrestling bulls) to the sport (Thai Kwai Chon) so it depends.

I will admit, that while I think its a bit distasteful, doe to the injuries the chickens suffer, non blade enhanced chicken fighting is not AS barbaric by a long long way.

These animals that are killed, while in an excited or agitated state, are not that good for consumption. Something about enzymes secreted and muscle tightening, results in tough, less favorable meat.

In my mind I picture an idyllic meadow, with a young fawn dipping her snout into a bubbling brook, for a cool sip of morning water......then BAM! A clean high velocity "head shot", that she never even heard.
