Hiv Subtype E In Thailand

I read through many of these posts and in many ways was a bit worried for people. I do not want to state again but feel I have to state that while I do not like the whole sex scene I do not judge it either. But what I do worry about is the complete lack of understanding about the down side to sex in Thailand. I have spent weeks worried about an encounter I had with a thai guy I met and yet some posters on here seem to go through at least one or two girls a day with no worry about disease. I just really want to drive home the need for safe sex in Thailand by sharing some thing I learned.

Hiv in Thailand is NOT the same as it is in Europe and USA. Hiv in Europe and USA is predominantly HIV Subtype B. It is a blood borne disease and as such is most readily transmitted via **** intercourse(greater likelihood of bleeding) and IV drug use. It is NOT efficiently transmitted by heterosexual sex.

The Thai variant is called HIV Subtype E..technically it is recombinant B/E. It has been proven to MUCH more easily be transmitted via heterosexual sex because unlike HIV B it does not need open cuts or sores to get into the body but rather uses langerhans cells which are found in the sexual tract of everyone, men and women, as well as the mouth. How many farangs get infected a year I have no clue but considering 1 in 60 Thais are infected I think that people need to be seriously cautious. Especially if we take into account that 1 in 60 is infected and the 59 who are not, are not likely to be in the sex trade. While many places test girls(and guys) regularly, they lose a few every month to testing positive, and those girls do not leave the industry but move on.

Now I do know a German man who like many of you was enjoying himself thouroughly...the condom broke and he has been diagnosed with hiv infection now and it was confirmed he contracted it in Thailand as it was subtype e.

So if you are gonna play, keep these things in mind, especially since alcohol plays a big part in all this.

Well I have to wait 2.5 month to get Hiv tested.

Because the girl actually did thi, sit on top! I pushed her away quit fast, but still, this is something that should not happen....

But I am not really scared, the changes are quiet small, since there has not been a real mix of the juices!

But the chances to catch something are much higher with a girl performing this trick then the ones who would not perfor any way without a condom....

My best friend got his last results too, The virus count is now 100 per ml blood....remember it was 2 millions per ml blood when they discovered he had the infection. Dropped to 405 after only a month, then 100 now after another 4 weeks.

Okey, so when you get tested for HIV, they tell you that it will not show on a test before 2,5-3 months. But when you give blood, they automatically test it, (atleast in Finland). And they then state that it would show up on their test even if you would have got it just the day before... So I presume there are different ways to test for HIV, So why the **** don't they use the same method when you go to the hospital and check for STD's... To expensive?

Though I suspect you're just trolling the idea that HIV/AIDS is caused by meds and/or sex & drug abuse rather than really looking.

The reason I posted it is because I had the scare of my life with a Thai guy when I first got here. Very few people know about the different subtype factor and I think people should be aware of it. Had I known I never would have gone down on this guy but would have limited my escapades to regular protected sex, so I am just spreading the word from someone who has been through the scare and got a crash course on HIV in Thailand from a doc at Bumrungrad!

That is a good observation, Tintin. Because if she is doing that with you, then it means that she is probably doing it with many others too, and that means she is having frequent unprotected sex and there is a great risk that she will or already has contracted HIV.

I sure wish that there was a way someone could do a study that showed what the rate of HIV infection is among the girls who do the "sit on your d*ck" without a condom trick. It would be interesting to see the results, because it seems that they are asking for trouble in their lives; they are courting disaster. They need to be educated about the risk they are taking. And for what? A thousand Baht!

I work in the hospital area in Aus and attended a presentation on friday from the director of the STD Clinic . Interesting talk on all STD's how you get them , treatments etc along with some photos that made it hard to keep my lunch done. Test for HIV may be done asap and sometimes a treatment is commenced straight away without a concrete diagnosis to prevent HIV taking hold in the first place , but a test is usually repeated at the end of a 3 month period after unsafe sex for a definate result. Treatments have improved over the years with the goal to keep the T cell count as high as possiable so preventing converting to full blown AIDS. In the early days you may have taken up to 35 tablets a day now it is average of 5. Main ways of transmission of HIV today IV drug use and Gay sex Hetro way down now . Main message CONDOM, CONDOM, CONDOM not just HIV but the others as well eg herpes warts. Interesting points to take home some STD's are transmitted without direct sexual penertration eg skin rubbing together in genital area ( there goes the good old dry root safe sex method) and oral sex (herpes and the clap) . Finally some good advice from the ladies in the sex trade - A good inspection of the area of interest that you want to play in first can save you a lot of grief this can be done without your potential partner noticing . Any evidence of skin lesions, warts, drips and god forbid track marks you may want to reconsider your BG as even a condom might not be enough
