I'm nervous about bringing my boyfriend to my parent's house to introduce him.

Should I be? My parents live in "that house" on the block that is in total disrepair, everything is overgrown, the neighborhood children are afraid of, etc. I hated having to grow up in it and I constantly begged my dad to fix it up (and that I'd help) but he always told me he has no money (even though he makes $130k/year....but that's another story).

Furthermore, my parents both have accents and always manage to embarass me (although that's normal for parents haha)

On the other hand, my boyfriend's parents are prim and proper and live in a well-kept mansion on 10acres. I know my bf loves me and wouldn't ever judge me, but I'm afraid he's gonna judge my parents....especially since he's very conservative and not too fond of people that don't speak english well...

Regarding his dad, he's pushing 70, so I think I can manage to outrun him

well if ur bf loves u enough to not judge u then he shud lov u enough not to say bad things about ur parents. and if ur bf is not to fond of people that dont speek english well then u shud bring him around them first and see wat happens then once he gets to kno them u can bring him around them more often so he can get used to how they talk. u shudnt be embarressed about ur house even if it does look like how u say it does. i kno a lot of people that dont even have a home to actually live in or live in the worst house in the world thats falling apart. at least u have a home that works and isnt exactlly falling apart on u day by day. ur bf shudnt care about the place u live in anyways.

Anyway, sounds like you are the one with the problem being embarrassed by where you come from and where you live. If you have a snooty bf you wont accept you, all well. Get rid of him.

Sis, I know that feeling too well! My mom is and always has been horrible at keeping a house clean, the garage has been falling down for YEARS, there's dog crap in the back yard and the pool reminds you of a SWAMP. Did I mention that we use well water so the house SMELLS like rotten eggs all the time? Oh yeah, one parent is white and the other isn't so let's throw THAT in there as well.

Guess what I did before bringing over someone I REALLY liked, not just kinda liked, I had to REALLY like you because otherwise you'd NEVER get in that house, okay? I'd be honest and warn them about the environment etc. "My mom isn't the best housekeeper, the house smells like eggs and don't EVEN go into the backyard unless you have a bio suit on." Most of the girls would be like LAUGHING and that's a good response. Also, make sure that at least ONE room is presentable, warn your parents that someone is coming over.

I'm assuming that none of your parents bad habits have rubbed off on your own personal sense of cleanliness and orderliness? Most girls that knew me always noticed that I was clean and presentable with a car that wasn't full of trash. His impressions of YOU are more important than what he thinks about your parents. It's okay to feel nervous having him over but if you want him to know you better then you really can't avoid the "home visit" forever. Get it over with.

No offense to the other answers but boys dont occupy themselves with any of the thoughts you all seem to think of in that situation.

The only thing a boy is thinking of there is: "sh*t, can I outrun her dad when he tells me to stay away from his daughter?"

I was a nice squeaky clean respectable kid and even then, the amount of times Ive been chased down drives by overprotective fathers ......
