Apparently it's open again. I called a couple times last week looking at who's available. An oriental gal answered the phone and said that there are several oriental ladies available. This place may have changed hands since the bust and could be just an Asian MP now.

Not quite right, its only illegal to communicate in a "public place" such as a street or common area of a hotel. There is a case that if on a isolated street with the expectation of privacy a Court held it was not a public place.

A MP closed massage room is not a public place. There is no communications issues. The issues is "sexual contact" which violates both the Mississauga bylaw and could make it a common bawdy house as others have pointed out.

Communications however is not the concern. Even the Edmonton Police website makes that clear specifically in a massage room.

I think Dave had it right in his post. There appears to have been some misleading and inaccurate ideas getting repeated on the internet about what is legal in MPs in Edmonton. The urban legend is something like this -- Edmonton police have said anything is okay inside a room in an MP because it's not a public place, and therefore does not violate the public communicating section of the Criminal Code.

It does correctly point out that public communicating charges would not be applicable in this case since the communicating in a massage room would be in a private location. But anyone assuming that means "anything goes" has:

1) not bothered to read the whole paragraph about what is illegal in an MP, and

2) incorrectly assumed that public communicating is the only Criminal Code section relating to prostitution.

Anyone in an MP can be criminally charged with bawdy-house violations. The Edmonton police web page does describe this, even if it does not use the term "bawdy-house". HJs are enough to press charges. It does not have to involve FS, another misconception that often gets repeated.

The Criminal Code applies to all of Canada, including Edmonton. A city cannot pass its own bylaws that say it's okay to violate the Criminal Code.

Canada only has one criminal law there are not different "laws" in each province.

I correctly reported on the Brampton case where the bylaw to outlaw nudity was quashed by the Ontario Superior Court. That is all, not full service or anything sexual. But a bylaw can't unreasonable restrict what is legal and has no jurisdiction to do so.

Anything sexual from a handjob or more could but the place at risk for a bawdy house violation under the Canadian Criminal Code. But very rarely is only a hj is done is it an issue. However some cities have laid charges based on only a handjob but don't think they ever went to trial (were dropped as far as I can reserach).

Oh how saucy all the editorials could be. Maybe there could be claims of a boob drain to countries such as Australia with legalized prostitution.

Or there could be the case that by decriminalizing the sex trade, corruption of law enforcement and the exploitation of illegal immigrants could be curtailed.

Best of all for Canada and their tax hungry government, another source of revenue.

Depends if they are raiding the place or not. If it is a raid then yes they can.
doesnt matter if there were no extras offered to you at that time. Bawdy house is a bawdy house.

Maybe they will clean up all the bad ones and do eveyone a favor. Hope they get some shit holes closed but leave the good ones alone . To bad things don't work that way though . One bad apple affects everyone.
