New Go Go charges 900 baht a beer!

A bunch of us expats had dinner as usual on Tuesday night in Patong , and the suggestion was made that we check out a new Go Go on Bangla, situated above the Green Devil Bar on the corner of Soi Sea Dragon.
From the very approach to it, where we were crowded by touts, I was uncomfortable, and spoke politely that we had arrived on our own accord, and were entering alone. This was agreed to , but one still followed us up to the second floor, where in I repeated to the reception ladies that we did not bring the touts with us.
All was 'no problem sir' and we were ushered inside, and I as surprised to see it was almost full of farang couples, none looked particularly cheery, but all were neatly dressed and 'seperate' ...
A lone 'dancer ' was on the seforum.xxxe, she was dressed in a puffy traditional Korean dress with a bikini partially visible underneath and looked to be dancing a slow Korean traditional dance...
It looked as if we couldnt get 4 seats together , and I asked the accompanying service girl how much a beer was , in Thai , but was begged to sit when 4 seats were found, and the question ignored. I asked a waitress again as she suggested , "4 Heiniken sir?" and since no direct answer was forthcoming, politely I said, "Ow menoo kup." ( Take menu please)
With a sigh , she brought menus, two I think, and it took some time to focus on the small figures in low light.
All beers were 900 baht each.
"What you have sir?" she said.
"Mai ow kup ", was my reply . ( Not take thanks)
We rose to leave.
She put her hand on my shoulder and whispered, "Not speak other customer, can make price down!"
Cynically, I asked, "Tao rai nah?" ( How much then?)
"Ha roi baht!" ( 500 baht)
I stiffled a laugh as I told the guys who immediately stood up. It never pays to laugh at , or be loud or abrupt to a Thai, particularly in a Go Go with bouncers.
When we got to the bottom of the stairs , the tout approached and asked in Thai what was up.
When told he said, "Come back, I speak for you, can hab one beer only 300 baht!"

So the original offer was $US30 a beer and the final $US10.
It had want to have been a great show!
Unfortunately with the latest Police crackdown, the most flesh possibly exposed , aside from he artistic value ( cough), would be a bikini clad Thai girl pretending to be Korean....

That's just nuts. Good job you asked for a menu. Why on earth do these places do this, it must result in arguments all the time. I hope they don't last long. Wonder how much the bf would be for the lone dancer......THB 1 Million! 555

They are clearly simply set up to hit tourists....following the Patpong business model.
I dunno the name.......some suggestions like "The Sting Club" or "Rip offs 'R Us" may be appropriate.

Been like that for 3 weeks now.
Occasional clean cut looking 30 something single Thai male 'visiting' the Go Gos, and an upper echelon powere struggle going on amongst the official powers that be going on apparently....
Lots of tourists in the bars but, and a bit of a flood of tgs made unemployed by the ah, flood.

I've been into this place as well. First of all, as the OP says, it is obvious this is a tourist trap designed specifically for that. If you sit in the Green Devil you can watch tout after tout lead a group of foreign tourist up there and about 9 times out of 10, the group walks back out. So, luckily, it seems not everybody is falling for this stuff. However, the place didn't look bad inside at all, I didn't see the real quality of the dancers in the 60 seconds I stayed there, but the layout seemed cool. Maybe this place will eventually shift to a more normal operation, who knows. They also offered to lower the price "how much you want to pay" I think we said 100 and they laughed, but probably would have accepted 200. By that time I'd kind of soured on the idea, so we left, no way to know if they'd keep their end of the deal, etc.

Deano, just curious as to whether this place may have had karaoke rooms inside as well?
I understand if you don't recall, as you were only in there briefly.

When you said 1 sole dancer it sounds very much like the KTV bars here in PI, which target Koreans who are very well known in the PI as being LDOP's & not forgetting the 3x3's factor.

The MO's of these places is, there's usually one girl dancing...usually very active to one or 2 songs, then she's replaced by the next dancer etc. etc.
Once the Korean gets a seat the mamasan will parade all the girls in front of him (usually 10-20 girls & the girls are usually a cut above your average BG lookswise etc. ), where he will choose his girl/s to sit with him & buy LD's etc.
They have so called "videoke rooms" on the premises which are decked out with microphones/players/screens etc, but they are nothing more than ST rooms, which are rented/hired at exhorbitant rates.
The punter pays for the room to the "house" & in the deal there's drinks included.
It's up to the punter beforehand to negotiate with the girl/s their fee.

KTV bars are spreading like cancer throughout PI, as there's been a huge explosion of Korean mongers.
They have pushed up prices here in AC, with their LDOP antics & many (still a small perceneforum.xxxe overall) of the girls aren't interested in the Western mongers anymore.

I hope the cancer doesn't make it to Patong.

I really wanted to check it out last trip, after enjoying Baccara in Pattaya, different owners i guess? But didn't fancy climbing the stairs with all the touts hanging around, bad enough trying to get into exotica sometimes.

Well that idea is news to me ER....as you noted, I wasnt there for long and didnt see any 'rooms', and just from knowing the floors previous 'pool hall ( 4 tables) ' size, i dont think it big enough....
Still , as far as I know the floor above is empty.
I dont even recall seeing any bunch of Koreans, but the ladies outfit sure looked odd on a tg.
Anyway , thanks for the pic Baz....Im guessing its name is "Season + " and sponsored by Baccara from Patts ( where the beers dont cost 900?)

We got stung 800 Bht a beer n August . Not sure of the name but not far from the No1 Seafood Restaurant.
Harsh lesson but will not get caught again.
Silly part of it was that they are doing themself out of money as we were there for a good time and would have drank up, plus brought the girls' drinks.
