Official: Carlsberg Returning to Thailand

I was drinking Carlsberg bottles in several bars last month. Usually sold at the same price as Heineken/San Mig

A mission to hurt Chang. Best way to get in trouble again. Farang company wanting to hurt one of the top 2 richest Thais, and in Thailand where he plays a home match.
Best they leave Chang alone.

Perhaps for those who take words too literally, an explanation may be in order.
By "hurt" I meant gaining or converting business at the expense of the competition losing business.
If Carlsberg gain market share at the expense of Chang, they will "hurt" them.

Study up on the huge wins Carlsberg had in international courts.
They could have walked away with their settlement, but the chose to regain market share in Thailand.
Wisely they chose to brew and bottle in another ASIAN country to avoid taxes and to avoid Thai corruption, yet not having a direct presence in Thailand besides contracted distribution.
Remember Carlsberg was robbed of their presence in Thailand.
They have a score to settle and they will gain market share and "hurt" Chang.
Don't discount that Carlsberg is the forth biggest brewing company in the world and they currently have next to no presence in Thailand.
That despite that they (before the scam) was the biggest in Thailand and Asia also being one of their biggest markets areas for the company.

Carlsberg is on a mission and they have the resources to win.
They certainly have nothing to lose.

This is "Western reasoning". That Khun Charoen doesn't give a cent about that. For him it was not about money or winning in international courts, he didn't give a sh*t. For him it was about losing face. And I know that from a guy involved in what happened. It was just about the (at that moment) richest Thai losing face to a foreign company who wanted to tell him what to do in his own brewery. WTF did he have to sponsor Everton fore, except that it is in the same town as Liverpool, sponsored by Carlsberg. How much does he gain by sponsoring an English football team? Sold a lot more Chang in the UK? And not one Thai is fan of Everton, big ones are Manu, Chelsea, Arsenal.

If they can't get it down to same price as Tiger draught then it will be too expensive after bars put their mark up on it.I was drinking pints of Tiger draught in Penang for 17 RGt - 170 baht.Half pints for 85 baht.

I know Carlsberg was cheated by Chang, anyway, doing a comeback now wont be easy, the established demand is no longer there. Carlsberg used to be one of the main brands and in demand, now it is not. There are a lot of beers in the market, very few make it. Chang, San Mig light, Tiger, Heineken and Singha (Light) are those main brands now, the market probably has 20 more brands available but no demand for them. Leo do well but not there yet.

I do drink Carlsberg whenever I visit Malaysia myself.

Beer bars have limited space, we only stock main brands. Bigger bars can easily stock a lot more, most of the bars are small tho.

That new pool club in Nanai Rd will be selling Carlsberg draught when it's available,
their prices for tiger draught are 1/2pt 70 baht, 1pt 130 baht, tower 475 baht. Saturday they have specials on towers, Tiger 400 baht, Heineken 500 baht.

Ice cold carlsberg isnt a bad drop.. And 130 a pint bearable IMO.

Until they get it bottled they will never be a major part of the thai market tho.. So many bars simply dont have draght..

Denver - try the Cheers Extra (Red Cans 500ml) in the 7/11. They are only 69 Baht for a twin pack.It is a smooth beer that I think you would like.

Just chatting with Match Fishing bloke at the Lake of Much Cheapness (This is for Sateve W more than anyone) 5 hour match, 16 Anglers for a total of 1725Kg of Fish caught! Clucking Bell!

Anyway, off for my pre-drinky snoozette, would appear the KBG has dredged 'Mr Balloon, all yer colours, all yer sizes of Kamalala's Derigables' dwindling stash of the old inflatables and gone for a mish mash of colours tonight.

Was told it was free food so just slipping the Coteforum.xxxe Pie I made and de-frosted earlier....Cough!....Back in't fridge. Can't beat a finger buffet, it's those chickens feet I can't stand.
