One vote or Multiple choice. which do you prefer when you vote?

For those of you that vote in the polls, which option do you prefer.

the single vote poll where you may be torn between a few choices, but are able to choose only one.

or the multiple choice where you can select your favourites and let the number of people voting decide whos on top.

my opinon is the single vote quite often diverts alot of votes to one person and doesnt leave alot left over for the other girls.
if everyone had seen every girl, then that could be the best way. but most have only seen a few girls on the lists so it seems fairer to allow you to choose more than one favourite. besides I hate choosing only one, I have a few favourite girls, that serve different needs or moods.

I guess it would be silly to have multiple choice here though huh? lol

I would love to choose one and i think that is the only way we can get accurate results otherwise if i am selecting my 1st,2nd,3rd...........250th choice and all are getting one votes each then it is notgoing to be considered a fair poll.

Milupa, I can agree with you, if this were a scientific, or definitive poll.
but that is impossible on massageplanet.net with "many" members having multiple handles.

however were just doing it for an idea of what people think and want. and have a fun view of the overall picture

I'm not trying to elect a Prime Minister,
there is no right way or wrong way to do it. you know I've played with both options

How can anyone who has not seen all the MPAs listed vote for one? I do not vote for that reason. On the other hand I doubt oif any of those who vote have seen them all. That means the vote is biased towards the attendants at the high traffic MPs.

I like single vote polls better. It's like being put on the spot to make a tough decision. I find that I put more thought when I have to choose one girl as opposed to many.

With multiple choice, I start voting for my favourites initially, but then start adding girls that I had a good time with that otherwise would never make my favourites list. This I think is deceiving as it does not properly reflect who is the real favourite.

It's not a matter of what one prefers - it's a matter of what you want to get out of the issue at hand.

Take a simple question - who's the best girl at X spa.

You can devise a poll where each person can choose one and only one girl.

Or you can devise a poll where each person can choose their favourite and their second favourite, and assign points - 5 for a 1st place vote; 3 for a 2nd place vote.

Or you can devise a poll where you can can choose your top 3.

Or .......etc.

Different designs will give you different kinds of results.

More to the point you might find the results change. The girl who gets the most 1st place votes might be overtaken by the girl who has the 2nd most 1st place votes, because she has many many more 2nd place votes.

The depth you add to the poll impacts the depth of the result.

The values you place in a poll (the assigned points for instance) can impact the results.

Lastly, the overall results may well be, for the group, irrational. A maybe preferred to B in a poll. And B is preferred to C in a poll. But C is preferred to A in a poll. Not only possible - in fact a common occurence.

Whether people prefer one kind of poll over another is irrelevant - that is, if you have expectations of your poll being useful.
