that's what i'm getting at jb, i'm not saying they are getting it, but they probably would from newbies fresh off the plane, it's no different to the t-shirt sellers, of course they ask for the high price first because they might just get it, same same bg. i think when you have to negotiate a price (haggle) before the deed is done, it takes a bit away from the experience though, better to sort out in the morning and pay what you think is fair for their company, being reasonable of course.

Was in Patong from 20 - 26 Dec 08, and didn't pay more than 1000THB for LT for a bar girl, Gave extra tip +200 THB if she was good in sack. It was my first time in Phuket, been to Pattaya 3 times b4.

I agree. I don't like that haggling either. I only tried it once (without success mind you), but after that I just never mentioned it, and paid in the morning. Seems a better way of doing it.

Perhaps, but IMHO it's far more likely to be a matter of $$$$, how badly he wanted to spend it, and how badly she wanted it. When you're one of relatively few offering $$$, people (especially in Thailand) will almost always accept far less than the asking price.

(Of course, this works in reverse when there's loads of people offering $$$, in which case a low offer will be ignored.)

Having said that, I do think there is room for at least one cheaper beer bar in the naughty nightlife areas. I would be suprised if it happened given the short termism that dominates thinking though.

This is the premise that i work on, if a girl starts talking money in the bar i generally walk away . Past experience tells me she won't be that enthusiastic back in the loom...

Nearly all of the girls who i took, who got between 1000-1500 the next day , gave me their phone number, so they couldn't be that unhappy with what they were getting ..

I had a couple quoting 2000 last April but the usual was 1000 - 1500, i felt that would avoid any confrontation the next day if they were'nt happy with what they were given.
Although i am coming round to your way of thinking.....

I would think it also depends on chemistry.

A guy who enjoys himself and have fun with a girl versus a guy who dont sit down and just ask how much (pure sex business) get a higher price.

Also a girl that obviously is not interested in your company ask for a lot more than a girl that seems to enjoy your company and being interested.

Also younger boys vs older guys may also make the price slightly different. On other hand, younger boys dont tend to have money so older ones in favour. So maybe even out. A young boy who ask for free sex isnt popular at all. But a young boy with money seems to be very popular.
