FYI

The process of approving a review for "Credit" comes from a drop down menu which we use to compare to the information contained in the review. The items on the drop down are provided by the owners as THEIR criteria for the review to meet the guideline for PA credit or to be declined. There is nothing on this drop down that asks was the price for the service on the review. So in answer to the RTM, yes this review could be approved for PA credit without the price being listed.

If that is the case, someone could choose to leave the field blank or fill in any amount they wish if the "fee" is not part of the criteria for approving a review. What happened to accuracy in reviews if we are not required to list the cost?

RREB, technically you have a point when it comes to accuracy. However, I believe that you're shooting the messenger because Space is enforcing the rules of the site. It's like if there is a bad law, the police is not going to NOT enforce it because it is a bad one. We have to go back to the site owners on this one if we want our reviews to be truly accurate.

For someone who bitches about the little stuff in reviews, "quit whining" is a pretty damned disrespectful way to address a concern that you yourself have voiced repeatedly, sixx.

I don't give a shit whether you got a freebie or a discount. I would like to know what I can expect to pay if I ever go there, and whether I'd get the kind of treatment you got for the same kind of money you paid.

Leaving out information like that renders this review rather useless imho, and "BU" listings basically exhibit one of two kinds of attitudes from poster... the lovesick puppy who is embarrassed to admit to how much of his kids' trust fund he surrendered or the guy who wants to remind everybody that "he's someone to know."

Of course I could be full of chit!

I don't understand why this is an issue. The website is provided and has the posted rates. Most everybody has had instances where they didn't pay the posted rate. It could be because I'm grandfathered under her old rates before she was in such demand. It could be that she called and requested certain activities she doesn't do with just any client. It could be a freebie because of a glitch in a previous appt. It could be because I paid more, just because she made me feel worth it. Maybe I paid more to get her to prioritize her schedule to convenience me, causing a cancellation to some other monger. It could be a deep discount because I helped her get started. All of these things happen to me with regularity.

You're only going to see me post her "rack rate". I've shared what I really paid in a previous life, and it ALWAYS backfired. If I said she gave me a discount for whatever reason, some other monger starts using that as leverage to force her into agreeing to a discount. Some guys aren't nice about it, and overly pushy. Makes a bad experience for her, she blames me, and now I don't get a discount anymore. So tell me again why I would tell others?

I view the site as a means of information sharing, verifying expectations, and adding safety. If I pay less for whatever reason, another shouldn't expect the same, so her asking rate is all you need to know, because it is what you can expect.

As long as I'm not receiving a discount to incite me to most mis-leading information, what is the problem?

Sorry, I was not trying to jump on Space for enforcing a rule. I just find that hard to understand why a price point can be left out of a review. Seems like that would be a very important factor when deciding to see someone.

I just don't understand why any of us would begrudge another the ability to get it for less.

There are guys that have a rep, and their influence is obvious. Why shouldn't they get to capitalize on it? Celeb's get paid to show up at restaurants and clubs because it's known that folks will go there just because so-and-so was seen there. They have a following, which is why they get freebies or even paid just to say they enjoy a certain product. Is it unreal to believe there are "celebs" of this board? That if JoeBlow has respect and a "following", getting his business, and having him say he as been there is worth future earnings. It is no different than a food critic reviewing an up and coming restaurant. Invite him, cater to him, and hope he writes a glowing review. As long as the reveiwer doesn't lie or mislead in his opinions, I'm good with it.

And as long as a menu is available, I don't need to know what he did or didn't pay. I should expect the menu price unless I find a way to work out my own deal.
