There's pics on here somewhere of the road behind the Hospital going underwater whenever it rains just along from Sansabai. This is how RatUThit gets sometimes when it rains>>>

unless they are living in higher up areas..





now that u mention it.. i remmeber in koh samui something similar happened.. i was chilling back sipping on some fruit shake watching the waves... all of a sudden staff were rushing to pack up the chairs, tables, umbrellas etc..... at the time the sky looked reasonably fine and didnt understand what was going on.. i mean there was abit of cloud but nothing major??.. however within 10minutes.. HOLY SHIT! didnt realise hwo quickly these clouds moved here....

I remember there was a lake or marsh land on the site where Bangkok Residence is built. I guess they have not put in sufficient drainage, what a surprise :

to be very honest here ... these are 3rd world countries, guess it's the charm of it.

Now, you take a very sophisticated country who has conquered the world and is a big player in financial markets ...
but only a few days of rain and all is flooded like crazy... or haven't you been to the UK before?

As an island with lot's of expected rain, very poor in controling it ... to top this, next summer is a hot one and all the
water is gone, can't keep it??? Hose bans, penalties when washing your car in front of your own house etc. That kind
of stuff amazes me more than floods on the street in a 3rd world country with heavy monsoon seasons...

But yeah, as long as there is enough to biatch about, why not 5555

p.s: Ireland exactly the same, crazy how such a rainy country can not handle water....

The Ex Pat allows non residents in to use the pool with no charge.They now have a steam room sauna and massage place next to the pool side which you pay for.The new bar manager Martin (Aussie) is always around and they serve drinks and food round the pool side.:

Have been at SBH since Sunday. The pile-driver only operates a few hours in middle of the day so nil affect on my sleep. : Highly recommend Bill's friendly, quiet and sueforum.xxxly appointed hotel.:great:

The constant parade of eye-candy, excellent inexpensive food and cold beers make the street front bar/bistro a fine place to spend many hours before a 5 minute stroll to Bangla Rd for night action.:happy::happy::happy:

What is the story with the BB pool? I think Lew said it was closed and probably wouldn't be reopening. Big loss to the area if that is the case, especially the SB guests.

I don't think he is Aussie but had lived here before.........from memory and it might be abit blurry cause he seemed to keep giving me drinks he was from England.

btw what does it have to do with RTG? bollox ;-) ... lived a few years in IE and UK and have seen sufficient
floods and water issues, not being able to handle rain properly (for a 1st world country where it rains maybe
50% all year for crying out loud ;-) )

Anyways...if you want to see real state of the art "water management", check out Holland, they are the true masters ...

The development in Sansabai has happened over the last 2 - 3 years and the flooding is a frequent problem already. So yeah, I'll biatch about the p1ss poor planning.:na:

My town is the same size as Patong, but we've had no flooding problems. Comparing reported floods in the whole of the UK against the size of a town that is Patong is pointless.

Roads disappear, houses crash down hillsides, but if you want to delude yourself that this is all ''part of the charm'', then go ahead. I'll see it for what it is - lack of forward thinking.:jap:

agree...on the other side of "water management" look at Phoenix Arizona.

they put a hose down in the middle of the desert and a huge city grew...hence the name.

I heard the same from BMs few weeks ago, I dont know whats happening to BB Pool, but it was my preferred pool to bring my family to on some weekends.

Regarding parking behind Bangkok Residence, its not underground at all. I use it sometimes.

it's a pretty nice place too. Martin is on top of things at the bar. I walked over from the pool to pick up a couple of beers for Slampay and I. The girl working the bar couldn't find the beers on top in the ice chest. Martin laughed a bit and said "get outta there woman, lemme in. It's just ice it won't bite" : then he reached down to the bottom and came up with the booty es::great:
