Siamease fighting fish newbie?

Hi

I am interested in getting a Siamese fighter fish for my room at uni. I am currently in France and they are selling some nice tanks that aren't too expensive but range from 2litres to 6litres, would these be ok for the fish? Also the tanks don't have a filter or heaters so does anyone know where in the UK or online I could order a heater and filter? I have seen also a very large (20litre) cognac glass in the pet shops, would this work for my fish? How long after getting the tank and adding water could I buy the fish?

You will need:

The 20 litre tank
A heater
A filter
ornaments and live/silk plants. (no plastic ones)

You're going to need that 20liter tank. Those 2-6liter bowls are way too small. At the very least try getting 10-15Liter tank.
Do any of the pet-stores have starter kits? Those usually come with a heater, filter, water conditioner, and hood. Other wise I don't know where you could order.

You'll have to cycle the tank before you buy the fish. Cycling can vary in the amount of time it takes. Google how to cycle if you don't already know.

Go for a 20 liter tank. That congnac glass won't be suitable for various reasons: Can't be fitted with a filter, can't be fitted with a heater, and it would be VERY hard to find a hood for it. It needs to be able to fit a filter and heater though. I would go for a simple 19 liter starter kit. They usually come with a filter and hood you would then need a 25 watt heater to go with it. You would then need to cycle the tank. This can be done WITH the Betta if you're VERY careful and know how to keep levels down. If this is your first tank I would research fishless cycling. You can order from any online fish place that ships internationally. Buy the tank in your area and then the filter and heater if you cna't find one that has one. That will save you shipping. I'm sure you could find a cheaper filter or heater though.

Honestly, those fish are really hardy...they sell them at the pet store in little tiny cups, lol. So any of those tanks would be fine. And they don't really NEED a filter and heater (although of course it's nicer for them).

its always nice for a betta to have room but they are ok without it and same thing with the heaters and filters they don't need one but they like them . and the water thing put water in leave it for 24 hours or buy Start Right its water conditioner and that just 10 mins and they can go in

Betta's don't need that because the have gills and lungs
