Single male tourist

I'm a single female tourist recently arrived (2 days ago) in Phuket and staying at one of the luxury hotels along Patong Beach Road. The beach is great and so is the pool & the cultural shows they have at the restaurant

I'm looking to go out to explore the area, including Bangla Road, and was wondering if I'd be able to meet regular single male tourists, come here either as a solo traveler or with a group of friends, whom I could hang out with for a day or two ? I know there are lots of bars along the way here, but have read that most of the tourist guys are just looking for Thai bar girls that they pay for.

Welcome Tavia.
The folks that write on here make the Mai Tai bar a meeting point as most are single travellers.
Go along there and make sure you introduce yourself to Nicke and Ead, and they'll introduce you to others there and next you'll have a few contacts, and people to go around with.
Things start late in Patong, so at about 11pm, go up Bangla rd, and look for a brightly lit bar alley called Soi Eric.
Dont worry, you'll be quite safe.
Walk along the right side and every bar has its name lit up. Half way along you'll see it.
The aim of the bar girls/staff, is to fill their bar, you'll find them very welcoming, so relax and chat, and you will have a good time.

That's certainly true, but if you're on your own and want a friendly environment to start off your evening, try the Mai Thai Bar in Soi Eric ( Soi Eric is about half way up Bangla and MTB is about half way up Eric on the right ) it's run by Nicke and his wife Ead, this is Nicke's forum, that should give you the confidence to go out and explore

WTTB, Tavia. I am sure you will find it great to be a solo traveller in Patong but it sounds like your hotel could be charging a joinerfee ... Where are you staying ?

Hi Tavia, welcome to the board. Agree with the others regarding MTB.
Have a look in Scruffy Murphy's on Bangla also...usually lots of single lads in there.

From experiance (limited), the high end resorts dont bat an eye lid to bringing in another tourist.. I doubt she would be charged if she brought a guy (tourist) back to her room.

Hello everyone and thank you for the suggestions -- I will certainly go to Mai Thai Bar and Scruffy Murphy's as well ~

I don't think the hotel charges anything for another guest in the room as I pay for the room (not per pax) - the most that they'll require is to register the guest under my room in case there are more tabs to charge for food & drink & for security reasons as it's high end (4 star) ~

Anyway, I should think that a single male tourist would have his own room ~ same as I do ~ somewhere he could bring me ~ on a scooter or taxi if it's too far to walk ~

WTTB (It means Welcome to the Board). The suggestions to look out the Mai Thai Bar are sound. Most members of this forum use the bar as a meeting place, and introducing yourself to Nicke and Ead is a good start.

Life is full of doubts and I've been wrong plenty of times before.

Seems strange to start looking 6.30am local time, two days into her holiday? :neutral:
And again at 10am - the same morning?
And late the same evening? (20.35, 20.39 & 2145 hrs)
...all from that unnamed 4 star hotel in Patong?
