If they built it, will they come,( the high-end tourists). The way things are involving now I don't think so in the near future. First of all, politically, the country is a mess. Secondly, tourism is down just about everywhere.

I don't see it happening. Patong is known for night life and cheap shopping (relatively cheap). If they get ride of that or move it else where, then Patong becomes just another beach, and there are plenty of other beaches that are nicer. Phuket/Patong is successful because of what it is right now, and like they say, don't fix it if it an't broken.

The new boxing part of Tiger 2 is up and running. Is it going to stay open air like that? Looks really unfinished.

The San Sabai bars are so stupid now but could seem them being big money in a few years. San Sabai could be a new Bangla.

If the "Bangla' becomes more accommodation orientated then they will have good access to the beach.

I am guessing it wouldn't matter where the 'bar scene' was, Nanai or out around the CAT offices area etc. People will still travel halfway around the world for 'what' is on offer IMHO.

Most people I have seen sat in bars on Bangla at 11 in the morning with their first Heinken seem to have little or no interest in bronzing themselves on the beach!

As long as it doesn't spread out too much like Patts and they make some kind of new Beach Road type facility for the naughty tall ladies, muggers, pickpockets and kidney smugglers to hang out at after 2am.

Ive also heard talk about it for a while now... A lot of it being about closing the Tiger complex down to build a hotel there... After seeing the new Tiger being built i thought it was all comming true, but havint since heard anything about the one on Bangal closing...

Might be a bit sad if it does close though, as it was my first and favorite hunting ground when i first come to LOS... So got a little soft spot for it....

I was walking down the Beach Road today and roughly opposite McDonalds they have driven in a road to work on the huge site behind Soi Easy/Eric Etc. Just what we need, added traffic and building noise/rubbish in the middle of town. it's gotta be a multi story hotel complex so there goes the traffic when hundreds of concrete trucks and the rest start to turn up.
