What is the logic of MP pricing?

Why is it that at a number of places the fee you pay the MPA is identical whether you book 30 or 40 minutes, but then goes up dramatically for 50 and 60 minutes? For example, at SRM (and other places) the room and a BS is a combined $140 for 30 minutes, and $150 for 40 minutes which is only 10 bucks more, but then it goes up by $40 for the next 10 minutes ($190 for 50 minutes) and then another $50 for the next ten minutes ($240 for an hour), so an hour is $90 more than 40 minutes. It seems when you go from 50 minutes to an hour that's the biggest price jump of all. I'm assuming since 40 minutes costs just a little more than a half hour and a lot less than 50 or an hour that 40 minutes is the time they prefer their clients to choose? Why is that the ideal? Is an hour too tiring / require too much creativity to keep interesting?! Do most massageplanet.netites limit themselves to a 40 minute session because of this price structure, or are there many out there who opt for 50 or 60 minutes, and if so, why? Is there something great going on during that extra 20 minutes?! Just curious - thanks.

Look again and you'll see that an hour ($240) cost less than 2 half hour sessions ($140 x 2 = $280). Which is the better deal?

We took alot of thought into deciding pricing. Some places have higher door fees than the girls make on tips...not cool! Some places discount the longer you stay, again for the girls, not cool! Any specials we run are on doorfees, never tips. I guess we have a bias because we were attendants

the logic is there is no logic. most of the time we use the little head to do the thinking when we venture these hobby. well...at least i'll speak for myself on this.

The logic is what it has always been for any business: they charge what people will pay.

If the prices aren't to your liking, you don't go. If you can afford to pay it, you do.

Look at it on per spa basis: if you think the door fee is excessive, where does it appear that money is going? If they have a beautiful spa with hot attendants, then you know that money is being reinvested into the spa and the talent.

But if the spa is run down, the girls not up to par, then that door fee is clearly just going into someone's pockets.

Both scenarios exist for the consumer who wants them. Me, I'd rather pay an extra $20+ for a spa that is offering nice facilities and girls who look like they're coming out Playboy than pay less for a shithole and girls who look like they've just come out of jail.

It's not an affordability issue - I'm just curious as to why the pricing seems counterintuitive... usually when you buy more of something it costs less. Half an hour is the minimum - if you want an extra 10 minutes, it's only 10 bucks extra, but it's $40 for the next 10 minutes after that, and then $50 for the next 10. That pricing structure makes it seem like they'd prefer to channel people into 40 minute appointments... why? One possible reason that came to mind is maybe the MPAs would prefer not to do 60 minute sessions and that's why it's priced that way. Maybe there's some other reason... I don't care about the specific prices - I'm just asking why it gets more expensive the more time you want - It doesn't work that way with SPs, does it?

When I was an MPA, this was how I saw it...

If a 30min BS is an $80tip, if an hour was $120tip, we could see 2 clients and make more $! I'd prefer then 2 half hr clients over a 1hr guy.

Unfortunately, the sex-trade biz doesnt work like Costco. More naked time is still naked time.

Instead of spending $240 an hour with a MPA, you could get a FS at incalls like the Roommates or Mirage with decent number of hotties.

Never a good idea to spend more than 40-45 mins session at MP, IMHO.

The fun thing about getting an hour session is because their not used to it their off their game a little and a lot more fun takes place. Well that's been my experience at any rate.

One MPA told me that she found hour sessions too tiring, and preferred half hour ones for that reason. Myself, I always book a 30 or 40 minute session, my logic being that even if two half hour sessions are $40 more that a single hour, I would rather go twice, with a few days in between. (This would be my answer to Horney Senior). I would also like to point out that, even if an attendant can make more off two half hour sessions in tips, there is never any guarantee that every half hour slot will be filled. (This would be my answer to Muse Management). What I don't get is the 40 minute session. It seems only to work to the advantage of the client. Can anyone explain?

Semi-related to this topic, I've found it interesting that some MPs (specifically SRM and HFH) only have a $20 difference between the MPA fees for NR and BS/VIP especially for the 30-40 minute sessions. I find that pricing to be clever because speaking for myself it doesn't seem that big of a deal to throw in the extra $20 for a top session. However on the flip side I think $120 would be too much to pay for a 30-minute NR especially since the going rate was about $80-$100 when I first started going to MPs back in 2001. I guess thats why I'm liking AGS these days.

Exactly! There is no financial benefit at all to the MPA - only the client. At SRM, Allure, Utopia, etc. etc. the MPAs get the exact same amount for any service whether it's 30 or 40 minutes - it's only $10 more overall for 40 minutes and it's the house that gets that money, not the MPA... that doesn't exactly encourage people to pick 30 minute sessions that some MPAs might prefer. So what's the rationale that makes 40 minutes the ideal?

Because 40 minutes is essentially the regular session. Its understood by all expereienced MPA's at this point in time, that it is the market, and will create demand - basically the 30 minute session is really infrequent at those spas, unless for those in a real rush. So instead of looking at it as being ripped off at 40 minutes, you look at it as a bonus to get a 30 minute session.

Its marketing - making a 40 minute session price that close to 30 minute price, makes there appear to be more value in a mssage, and its necessary to compete. And that benefits the MPA in the long run in terms of custome demand,
