I am not trying to say these are not issues but with both syph and the clap being treatable with a basic antibiotic course they are not bigg issues for me..

Herpes IS a problem because its viral and hard to treat.. I am still trying to find for sure if recieving oral can pass herpes from mouth to d1ck.. I dont see myself giving up blowjobs any time soon though..

Ohh and a condom doesn protect you from herpes fully either so you need to give up all non monogomous sex to be safe !!

1. THe above the crux of the matter imo. I'm rather clueless how you guys got into some time consuming acedemic argurment about what is or isn't proper use of statistics. THe famous Thai gentlemen known as "Mr. Condom" has himself recently announced his growing concern about a possible increase in HIV.

2. Like some others, I was really surprised to see how defensive some people were here to the discussion of STD. For myself, that was one of the main issues on my agenda for coming to this forum. I'll be in Asia/Thailand for an extended period soon. And I want to have as much fun as possible. But that doesn't mean I'm willing to go off half-cocked without getting a grip on the risk factors involved. So thanks to those that are providing any info.

Any lets not argue.. We all are aware of the issue and should be.. The only reason I jumped on the stats was the defense of this idea that Thailand has a huge HIV infected population and thats its the rapidly growing (the fastst growing in the world).. Data supports niether of these arguments..

It would be better if everyone read Aoms story linked above.. Its saddening... and then used any energy instead of argueing statistics to donate a little bit to the center listed above..

DJ Dave, I agree with you on your overall perspective that we should keenly bear the STD thing in mind.

However I think you misinterpret on this particular point. If you mean to say that 1 in 50 times one is expected to have sex one time with a person infected with HIV, then I don't think that doesn't necessarily mean you're statistically likely to actually become INFECTED with the HIV virus.

As far as I know, if you have sex one time with an HIV infected person, you don't automatically get HIV yourself.

I recall hearing that, in fact, your chances of getting HIV from a SINGLE contact with an HIV person would actually be rather low. But I really don't know for sure.

Anyway, this is a minor point, and certainly not remotely any reason to be less cautious.
